WIN a Family Pass to see The Luck Child at the opening show

There are 5 Family Passes to be won.

Introduce the magic of theatre to the youngest audiences with The Luck Child.

David Collins – Co-creator and star of The Upside Down Show and The Umbilical Brothers (the curly haired one) has created a children’s theatre show that is guaranteed to set them on a course of loving live performance.  What better gift to give a child?  By the end of the show he will make every single child believe that they are the Luck Child.

The Luck Child is based on an old Russian folk tale about a boy fated to become king. It is a theatrical rollercoaster for kids of all ages  – expect plenty of laughs, a lot of sound effects, bizarre characters and classic mime.

“This is my first foray into theatre for kids. I was approached by the Sydney Theatre Company (STC) with the pitch of introducing the magic of live performance to children. ‘Yes please.’ When I was a child, it was an STC show that made me fall in love with live performance, so it’s perfect that I give that gift to another generation.  Then they told me I’d be creating the show with Jonathon Biggins (who I just love) so it was a no-brainer.” – David

Engaging the audience’s imagination, the stage will overflow with everything you’d ever want in a story for kids – an evil king, a magical wizard, a mythical 3-headed something, a dour ferryman, an island surrounded by jewels, a blind knife thrower, the unluckiest trapeze act in the world, and of course – a monkey being shot out of a cannon.  “The non-human characters are often my favourite,” says Collins  “And there will be absolutely NO PIRATES!”

“If you have children, take them. If you don’t, yet find yourself with a spare daytime hour this week, this would be a delightful way to spend it.”  Sydney Morning Herald

“Children and adults are as transfixed by his skills as they are by the story” Sydney Morning Herald

“It has a happy ending and a moral to the story which is everyone can be lucky.”  Reviewed by Felicity Dayhew, age 8, in her own words.
