Woodhouse Activity Centre 60th Birthday Celebration Open Day

Help Scouts SA celebrate 60 years of Woodhouse Activity Centre by attending their Open Day on Sunday 15 October 2017

A gold coin donation will give visitors access to a day out limited only by one’s imagination and resilience at the Woodhouse Activity Centre 60th Anniversary Open Day.

Since 1957, Scouts SA’s Woodhouse Activity Centre at Piccadilly has enabled thousands of children, adults, corporations and even AFL sports teams to get outdoors, enjoy a slice of nature, relax, picnic, challenge themselves, challenge each other and most of all – have fun! It’s played host to thousands of overnight stays by school kids and been the site of many a Scout, Cub and Joey camp. In 2004, it became the home for two weeks to 10,000 Scouts having the adventure of a lifetime at the Australian Jamboree.

The tadpole filled creek, a lofty forest with its high ropes course, an abseil tower and rock climbing wall, the open expanses waiting for adventure to be created, the longest flying fox in town and the iconic Challenge Hill have seen many a rosy cheek, a big smile and a sense of pride from participants of all ages.

To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Woodhouse is opening its gates and inviting anyone who loves a sense of adventure and the great outdoors – not to mention a sausage sizzle and Devonshire Tea, to enjoy a fabulous day out with a host of fantastic adventures run by Scouts and Venture Corporate Recharge including:

  • High Ropes Course – challenge yourself amid the treetops!
  • A sensational flying fox
  • Rock climbing tower – can you reach the top?
  • Light Strike Laser Skirmish – always a blast (additional cold coin donation)
  • Ice blocking – how much fun can you have going down hill on a block of ice?
  • The iconic Woody’s Challenge Hill – the Crows and Port have done it – thousands of kids have done – how will you go? And as a bonus – the Camden Park Scout Group have a sausage sizzle waiting for you at the end of the course
  • Scouts SA Activities – and we all know how creative these guys are!

Whilst Woodhouse is famous for its amazing outdoor activity, the property also boasts a number of historic buildings that have seen many a wedding, party, corporate retreat and school camp over the past six decades.  During the 60th Anniversary celebration these venues will also welcome guests with catering and historic displays including:

  • Old Woodhouse Manor – History Display and Scout Social and Service Group Devonshire tea
  • Hoopers Bunkhouse – Catering available by Ash and Kel’s Kitchen

Woodhouse Activity Centre is located on 54 hectares of undulating gum tree studded countryside in the stunning Piccadilly Valley, just 25 minutes from the city.

This event is free to attend, but you’ll need to REGISTER HERE.
