Kids School Holiday Sewing Workshops with Yasi.
Kids can tap into their creative side during the October school holidays, learn a new skill and take home their very own creation with Yasi, a fashion lecturer at TAFE SA. There are different themes for each workshop and classes for beginners and intermediate sewers aged 8 years and up.
Workshops:
Beginner Class 01 – Learn the basics of sewing in one easy workshop and walk away with a cool Drawstring Backpack!!
This is perfect for an absolute beginner.
What you will learn:
- Familiarise with the parts of the sewing machine
- Threading of a sewing machine & winding a bobbin
- Stitch straight lines and curves
- Finish seams
- How to press the seam
- How to create a Drawstring Backpack!
Duration: 3 hours | Cost $100 | Age Group: 8 years & above

Beginner Class 02 – It’s Scrunchie time!!
This is perfect for an absolute beginner.
What you will learn:
- How to make a bunny ears scrunchie
- You will also be given a pattern to take home
Duration: 1 hour | Cost $50 | Ages Group: 8 years & above
What to bring: simply bring your self as all materials and hand held sewing machines will be provided.
Intermediate class 01 – Learn the basics of making a gathered skirt for your own measurements!!
This is perfect for someone with little experience in sewing that knows their way around a sewing machine or has already attended one of Yasi’s beginner classes.
What you will learn:
- Measure yourself to make a skirt
- Cut fabric to personal measurements
- How to insert an elastic
- How to press seams
- Sew your own Skirt
What to bring: simply bring yourself as all materials and sewing machines will be provided.
Duration: 2 hours | Cost $90 | Age Group – 8 years & above
Intermediate class 02 – Learn the basics of making a Cosmetic pouch/pencil case
This is perfect for someone with little experience in sewing that knows their way around a sewing machine or has already attended one of Yasi’s beginner classes.
What you will learn:
- Cut fabric from a pattern
- Fuse and add lining to the bag
- How to use zipper foot in a sewing machine
- How to attach a zipper
- How to press seams
- Sew your cosmetic pouch/pencil case
What to bring: Simply bring yourself as all materials and sewing machines will be provided.
Duration: 2 hours | Cost $90 | Age Group – 8 years & above
All classes will be held at Yasi’s Studio in St. Agnes (address will be shared upon confirmation of classes).
The maximum number of students is 2 per session. Each student will receive individual attention and plenty of time to practise.
