Lyndoch Recreation Park precinct (also known as Barossa Park) will launch as a host venue for the 2025 AFL Gather Round in the Barossa in April 2025.
The Barossa Park Project sees the redevelopment of Lyndoch Recreation Park into a multi-use precinct for community use. The facilities will cater for major sports, arts, festivals and community events, creating potential for another 18,000 visitor stays in the Barossa each year. These facilities will be in even higher demand when the Concordia residential development comes on line, paving the way for 10,000 homes and up to 30,000 new residents less than 10 kilometres from Lyndoch.
As of March 2025 the pavilion construction is complete and more than 400 trees and 10,000 plants and grasses have been planted around Barossa Park. Once the finishing touches are done the venue hand over will take place so the AFL can commence 2025 Gather Round preparations.
The project includes:
- Upgrade of the existing oval to meet AFL standards.
- A recreation green/second oval supporting relocation of athletics and a new multi-purpose building comprising a 300-seat event space, commercial kitchen, clubroom, change facilities and gym.
- New netball courts
- New playground and family garden, shelters and landscaping are also planned for the precinct.
Public access restrictions will remain in place until late April. An official opening event is expected to take place in May, when they will welcome the community to explore everything Barossa Park has to offer.
