Marion Outdoor Pool to Become Southern Adelaide’s Biggest Outdoor Water Park
Marion Council has begun the transformation of its 44-year old pool into the biggest outdoor water park in Southern Adelaide.
More than $1.9 million of new attractions will be installed, including a 9m-high tower with four slides, topped with a giant tipping bucket.
The site will be expanded to create a family area with three new shade structures, barbecues, and landscaping, plus there will be a 59 sqm play area for younger children with a non-slip surface and water jets.
Paths will be installed to improve access for people of all abilities.
With the video below describing details of the upgrade:
All current activities, including lap swimming, aqua aerobics, swim school, open day, swimming tuition, carnivals, events, and VACSWIM will continue – but in an improved environment.
The three-year project has cost a total of $4.5 million. Marion City Council provided $4.35 million of funding, and the State Government $150,000.
