As part of the Splash Adelaide initiative Nights on the Terrace, the State Library is again holding a free, outdoor movie night for families. The screening will be Matilda, a 1996 fantasy-comedy based on the classic novel of the same name by multiple prize-winning children’s author, Roald Dahl. Filled with special effects, lots of laughs and plenty of imagination, the film is directed by Danny DeVito, who also stars in the film alongside Mara Wilson as Matilda.
Matilda is a bright little girl who is very eager to learn but a family that doesn’t appreciate her. Eventually, her insensitive parents send her to a school run by Miss (The) Trunchbull. She is a cruel authoritarian that loathes children. Matilda befriends her school teacher, Miss Honey. She soon realizes Matilda’s talents, but is later amazed to see the full extent of Matilda’s powers.
This is a free event.
