National Railway Museum Event Program for Spring

The National Railway Museum is hosting a series of fun family events during September and October including the Adelaide Steampunk Festival,  Adventures with Bob the Railway Dog and the Heritage Transport Expo. The Semaphore Railway Train will also be running throughout the school holidays.

Adelaide Steampunk Festival | Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 September 2021

It’s on again – Adelaide’s fantastic Steampunk Festival. Plenty of displays and stalls, music, catering and loads of costumes and fun. Admission includes unlimited train rides on full-size steam loco Peronne and small blue engine Bub.


  • Adult – $23
  • Concession – $18
  • Child (5-15yrs) – $9
  • Family (2 adults + 3 child) – $49
  • All NRM members and all under 5yrs – FREE


Adventures with Bob the Railway Dog | Sunday 19 September 2021

There will be plenty of family entertainment, unlimited free rides and a Find the Dog Puzzle at this fun event. Full-size black steam engine PERONNE, the little blue engine BUB and DIRTY the diesel loco 801 will all be providing different experience train rides. There will also be catering onsite by Dave’s Van, a sausage sizzle and the Café Car.


  • Adult – $18
  • Conc – $12
  • Child (5-15yrs) – $8
  • Family (2 adults and up to 3 child) – $40
  • Under 5yrs and all NRM members – FREE

All train rides are included.


Heritage Transport Expo | Saturday 9 & Sunday 10 October 2021

Steam locos PERONNE, BUB and REDHENS will be running. There will also be historic buses and cars and short bus tours around the Port.  The 1940s style Cafe car will also be open and there will be a sausage sizzle.

Semaphore and Fort Glanville Railway season starts School Holidays on Saturday 25 September 2021

This is a magical 25 minute four-kilometre journey, behind a steam engine travelling along the dunes from Semaphore Jetty to Fort Glanville and back.  READ MORE HERE
