National Reconciliation Week | South Australia | 27 May – 3 Jun 2021

National Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week, held between 27 May and 3 June, is a time for all Australians to learn about shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in our country.

This year’s theme – More than a word. Reconciliation takes action – urges the reconciliation movement towards braver and more impactful action.

Government agencies across South Australia are hosting events and participating in activities to celebrate National Reconciliation Week and strengthen respectful relationships between the Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

These activities are detailed in the South Australian Government National Reconciliation Week Calendar of Events.

Some of the family friendly activities include:

  • Grandmothers Songs By Vonda Last (DreamBIG Children’s Festival)
  • Reconciliation in the West – a day of free activities, food and live entertainment by Nathan May and Nancy Bates celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and identity within NRW.
  • Our Stories Dreamtime stories for children (DreamBIG Children’s Festival)
  • NRW Bush Tucker Planting – Learn about Aboriginal culture with Kaurna Elder Tamaru and get your hands dirty by planting bush tucker back into the local area.

View the online calendar to find out what’s happening near you and how you can get involved.
