Ninth Avenue Christmas Lights Display

Residents of Ninth Avenue are set to bring joy to the local community this festive season with their annual Christmas lights display.

The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is delighted to announce that Ninth Avenue residents will once again adorn their homes with decorations and turn on the lights for their annual Christmas celebration.

More than 70 houses along Ninth Avenue from Battams Road, Royston Park to Stephens Terrace, St Peters will light up and shine bright from Tuesday 1 December 2020.

“This Christmas, the lights will be a sign of hope and source of happiness after what has been a challenging year due to the COVID-19 pandemic” says Mayor Robert Bria.

Mayor Bria says that the Council understands the need for the community to remain vigilant in reducing the spread of COVID-19, particularly given the large numbers of people expected to visit Ninth Avenue in the coming weeks.

COVID-19 measures include:

  • Street signage encouraging physical distancing and continuous movement along the street
  • Footpath signage encouraging pedestrians to walk in one direction
  • Signage encouraging people who are feeling unwell to view the lights from their cars so as to minimise contact with others

Despite the challenging times of COVID-19, residents are aiming to deliver a free, family-friendly and safe Christmas experience for everyone to enjoy.

The lights will be on display from 1 December 2020 until 1 January 2021.
