Oakbank Week – The Start of a New Tradition
Oakbank week adds a unique flavour to country racing with it’s world-class races and calling, lavish picnics, family atmosphere, entertainment, Kelly Sports, Melba’s KidZone, fashions and much more.
COVID-19 – SA Racing Industry Update 17 March 2020
All South Australian thoroughbred racing activities to be limited to essential racing personnel only with no spectators. Decision affects all metropolitan, provincial and regional clubs with some meetings cancelled. 2020 Oakbank Easter Racing Carnival to be a no-spectator event, focus turns to Christmas Twilight meeting.
The decision affects a number of upcoming provincial and regional events including:
The Kimba Cup on March 22nd will run under the restrictions.
A decision has been made to cancel the Streaky Bay Cup on 28 March 2020 in consultation with the club.
The Clare races scheduled for Easter Saturday, the Penola Cup on Easter Sunday and the Easter Monday Barossa Cup at Gawler will all run under the restrictions.

Debuting for the first time in 2020, Oakbank Week provides an opportunity for people of all ages to forge new traditions at Oakbank Racecourse, over the course of three event-packed days.
Be part of the tradition and be seen at one of the world’s largest picnic race meetings. Pack your car with the BBQ, picnic table and rug and head into the centre of the track to enjoy the unique atmosphere, including sideshows, food vans, bars and Melba’s KidZone.
Von Doussa Family Food & Wine Day 2020
Sunday 5 April 2020 | 10:30am – 5:30pm
Kicking off on the 5th of April with the Von Doussa Family Food & Wine Day, families are invited to experience a taste of the Adelaide Hills’ best while sitting trackside. With a variety of live entertainment, in addition to six flat and two jumps races, the Von Doussa Family Food & Wine Day provides a slice of the best that Oakbank Racing Club, and the Adelaide Hills, has to offer. With tickets free for children under 18, and only $15 for adults, it’s fun for the whole family.

- Tug O War
- Relay Races
- Quoits/Hoops/Skipping Ropes
- Golf Putting
Corporate & Community Race Day 2020
Wednesday 8 April 2020 | 10:30am – 5:30pm
The Corporate and Community Race Day on the 8th provides visitors with an opportunity to meet and network with local community and business representatives against a backdrop of six flat and two jumps races. Free for children under 13, and $15 for adults, visitors can also book a table for themselves or their business at Oakbank’s corporate luncheon in the newly refurbished C.S. Hayes Bar.
Oakbank Easter Saturday Race Day 2020
Saturday 11 April 2020 | 7:30am – 5:30pm
Capping the week off on the 11th is the historic Oakbank Easter Saturday feature race day. As one of the world’s largest picnic race meetings, visitors are encouraged to pack their BBQ’s and picnic tables and head into the centre of the track to enjoy a variety of sideshows, food vans, bars and TAB facilities. Hosting a full race card, including the Great Eastern Steeplechase, the listed Hills Railway Stakes, and Onkaparinga Cup, Oakbank Easter Saturday is the truest embodiment of a day at the races. Visitors can enjoy all this for just $30, with children under 13 free.
Oakbank Week will be the destination for families again this year, providing plenty of action and excitement in Melba’s KidZone – and the best part is it’s free.
Here are some activities you can expect:
- Giant Easter egg hunt will take place on the course on Easter Saturday, keeping children entertained between gallops.
- The Stable Stars – a kids club designed especially for horse lovers – will also be entertaining children aged 3 and 11 years throughout the day. Membership is free – READ MORE HERE

- Giant games including Jenga, Connect 4, and Noughts and Crosses

- Kelly Sports is also organising a sports-based program for older children, featuring everything from cricket and running races to tug-of-war.

- Pensioner – $15
- Children (13-17) – $10
- Children (Under 13) – Free
To further take the hassle out of your day, book a spot on their return coaches. Departing from numerous locations to arrive at Oakbank Racecourse by 11.30am, and departing Oakbank 15 minutes after the final race (detailed bus timetable available soon, seats must be pre-booked). Please note, Link SA operate busses from Adelaide Central Bus Station to Oakbank at Easter time, and tickets can be booked directly via their website.
