Redskin Candy Soft Serve & Fairy Floss Dessert – A Must For Dessert Lovers at Gluttony | Adelaide Fringe Review 2019

Redskin Candy Soft Serve, Fairy Floss & Toasted Marshmallow – Dessert Heaven at Gluttony, Adelaide Fringe

If you love a sweet treat, then this will be right up your alley, especially if you’re a fan of soft serve ice cream. Shibui Dessert have a pop up stall at Gluttony this year with these yummy sweets.

The Redskin Candy soft serve inside a fluffy cloud of pink fairy floss is quite divine. My slight apprehension that the Redskin soft serve would be super sweet and sickly disappeared after the first mouthful. It is velvety smooth and surprisingly not overly sweet at all. And it tastes just like a Redskin lolly. Miss 13’s serve below was topped with a giant toasted marshmallow too. I had mine sans marshmallow above. Mr 10 had the vanilla soft serve with fairy floss pictured below. My husband had the Fried Ice Cream Sandwich with vanilla soft serve, chocolate fudge & honeycomb but unfortunately it was eaten up so quickly we didn’t get a pic of it.

We had this on a hot afternoon so we had to eat quickly. I’ve got to say, this isn’t the easiest dessert to eat and I don’t think there’s any dainty way to eat it. You really need to move the fairy floss out the way and eat the soft serve first before it ends up a puddle. Your hands WILL get sticky, especially holding a cloud of fairy floss with one hand while eating the ice cream with the other hand. I would recommend having some baby wipes on hand. However, the Parents Room is not far from here where you can wash your hands.

The Shibui Dessert Bar is located in the East Market food area – this is right at the back near the Adelaide Bowling Club (not the one near the Rundle Road entrance). Just follow the path through the middle right to the back of Gluttony.

Here are some of their other desserts – these pics are by @teethytea

See the Shibui Facebook page here for more info. After the Fringe winds up, you can still visit their bricks & mortar dessert cafe at 160 Grote Street.

Right next door you’ll see the cute Bubble Tea caravan and the Sake Bar. Mr Doughnuts are in this precinct too – their warm cinnamon doughnuts are just like the ones at the Royal Adelaide Show.

There are tables and seats with shade, and plenty of grass for the kids to run around.

Look out for this gorgeous wall art on Sooki Lala’s L.A.D. (Local Asian Diner) food truck.

On the way to this food area there is the Nerf Arena – it’s bigger and better this year with more room to run around. They’ve had sell out sessions of Fort Nite Battle Royal Live here.

Just behind the water misters half way down the path you will find toilets and a Parenting Room which includes some breastfeeding areas, nappy changing area, microwave and a sink and tap.

Back at the West Market food area – the one right near the entrance, we discovered one of our favourite finds this year – Luigi’s Crab Spaghetti. If  like me you always order the Crab pasta if you’re out and it’s on the menu, you will enjoy this one. It was a generous serve for $16 with plenty of sauce and crab meat. So delicious I’ve had it twice there!

The kids (who are hot chip experts) say the chips at this place below are excellent.

Here are the sweet potato chips below.

We also enjoyed the food at Toly Vietnamese.
