The Revolting Children of Tomorrow | Star Academy – Fringe Review
You’ll be hooked right from the beginning with a musical theatre mash up song battle between Annie and Matilda. This high energy show has singing and dancing almost non-stop for over an hour, with a young cast that will wow you from start to finish.
Annie and Matilda take us on an adventure to New York and along the way we get to experience a variety of genres with some big song and dance numbers. Little ones will love the gorgeous Sesame Street characters (Big Bird has the most amazing costume). There are tunes from Cats, Grease, Legally Blonde, Singin’ in the Rain and more. While jazz and hip hop are their forte, there’s even some contemporary ballet to Michael Jackson and Jamiroquai. These dancers can do it all. Full credit to the young soloists who manage to nail some big notes along the way.
What a wonderful way for local dance studio Star Academy to showcase their talented students and choreographers. If you have a little performer at home, this is the sort of show that will inspire them. The Revolting Children of Tomorrow is loaded with charm and an abundance of talent and will have you clapping with the music and bopping in your seat.
This is great family entertainment for musical theatre lovers in an intimate setting. Their cute theatre is vibrant and colourful with elevated seating and kids are invited to sit at the front. It’s right across the road from the Adelaide Central Market so parking is easy. Just follow the gorgeous colourful paper chains and balloons from Grote Street. They also had a cute stall set up selling snacks, sweets and coffee plus a sausage sizzle after the show and there’s of course all the food options at the Markets.
Final shows are on this weekend, Friday 2 March (sold out), Saturday 3 March & Sunday 4 March 2018.
