Held at the Road Safety Centre in Thebarton, participants will be shown and practice road safety while playing, walking and riding their bikes.

As well as getting to ride their bikes and practice what they learnt children will be shown the following videos and powerpoint presentation covering topics including ‘Where to Play’, ‘How to use a Crossing at Traffic Lights’, ‘Passenger Safety’ and ‘Bike Safety’

Bring a packed lunch and drink. Wear a hat. You are welcome to bring your own bike. Please let us know if you need assistance with transport. Family Zone staff will be there on the day.

Important things to note:

Parking
There is no parking available at the Thebarton Police Barracks for members of the public. Parking is available within the Bonython Park adjacent to the Road Safety Centre. Please see over leaflet for map.

Who Can Attend
The Centre is available for Kindergarten & Pre-Schools and Primary Schools (Reception to year 7).

What equipment is provided
Bicycles and helmets are all provided by the Road Safety Centre for participants to use. The centre has 2 wheeled bicycles in sizes from 10 inch, 16 inch, 20 inch and 26 inch wheels. The smaller bicycles have trainer wheels to assist children who have not ridden a bike before or are not confidents doing so.
*If participants wish to use their oen bicycle and/or helmets, they are welcome to do so*

Parent Responsibility
While Family Zone staff will be there to assist parents are responsible for the supervision of their child. Parents must bring any medication required for their child. The Road Safety Centre cannot be responsible for providing medical treatment.

Extreme Weather Policy
Heavy Rain: In the case of heavy rain this event will be cancelled and parents notified via sms.

High Temperatures: If temperatures reach 34 degrees and over the event will be cancelled and parents notified via sms.
As it is a morning session if the temperature is quite mild in the morning the practical session will be held first followed by the road safety presentation.

How long is the session
The session will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on group size.
