Join in at Ayers House this July for a series of fun, history inspired holiday programs!

Come and enjoy some old-fashioned fun at the beautiful Ayers House this July with winter stories, peg doll making, a riddle hunt, book making and sewing. Ayers House is the last surviving mansion of its era on the southern side of North Terrace. This forty-roomed mansion features magnificent painted ceilings, period furniture and decorative arts. It gives an insight into the life of an upper middle class family of the 19th Century. Come along and enjoy Ayers House and these fun activities.

Winter Stories and Peg Dolls

For kids who love stories and music
Come to the beautiful Ayers House and join in listening to traditional stories told in the cosy nursery. After the stories, have fun making a peg doll inspired by the stories.

Ages: 5-12 years
Duration: 1.5 hours

Riddle Hunt and Book Making

For kids who love to solve mysteries

Riddles are word puzzles that were popular in Victorian times. They are also popular with Hobbits! Use your cunning to solve riddles as you explore Adelaide’s finest Victorian era home.

Afterwards come up to the schoolroom and try writing with old fashioned pen and ink, and make a riddle book of your own.

Ages: 8-12 years
Duration: 1.5 hours
Cost: $10 materials included

Thursday July 21st 1pm-2:30pm

A Stitch in Time

For kids who love to explore and make

Tour Ayers House and find out what a pole screen is, and how it feels to stand under 3,000 pieces of crystal. Examine 19th century sewing paraphernalia and then join us in the nursery where you can do some sewing of your own.
