Fantastic and Interactive

2019 brings a whole range of brand new exhibitors to Science Alive!

  • OzGrav (the ARC Centre of Excellence for Gravitational Wave Discovery) aims to capitalise on the historic first detections of gravitational waves to understand the extreme physics of black holes and warped spacetime, and to inspire the next generation of Australian scientists and engineers through this new window on the Universe.
  • The Australian Dalek Builders’ Union will be there again in force, encouraging interest in the technology of Dalek-building and showing off their variety of full-sized Daleks – you might even get a chance to get up close and personal with them and even learn how to speak like a Dalek.
  • See what’s on offer from Flinders University, UniSA, Adelaide Uni and TAFE SA and exlore their feature exhibits.
  • Explore all aspects of STEM with the Astronomical Society, Saab Australia, Nature Foundation SA, Forensic Science SA, Bugs n Slugs, Animals Anonymous, BAE Systems, the Young Scientists of Australia, Hackerspace, the SA Museum and many more.

Play & Go Tips:

We’ve been to Science Alive for the last few years now.  Here’s some tips if you haven’t been before.

  • Allow plenty of time to explore – in previous years we’ve spent 4 or more hours there, so you can easily make a day of it.
  • It’s quieter in the mornings if you want to avoid line-ups at popular stations.
  • Saturday tends to be a quieter day too, so if your kids don’t have sports, then go Saturday instead of Sunday.
  • There are food outlets there but you can also take along your own snacks and food too.
  • The activities are well suited for all school-aged kids but younger kids will also find plenty of fun activities they can do. You are never too young to start getting into Science.
  • We recommend booking your tickets for Adults online before you go to save lining up to buy tickets.
