Scroll Ice Cream Adelaide | A Flavour Sensation | Review

Scroll ice cream is a unique ice cream experience with amazing flavours that pop in your mouth.

Inspired by Thai street vendors, Scroll use a cold plate technique – a unique method which is something we haven’t experienced before. They pride themselves in using local ingredients and the result is flavour that you can really taste.

Scroll ice cream pride themselves on being preservative and stabiliser free. Their cold plate machine reaches temperatures well below -20°C. The cold temperature produces smaller ice molecules which apparently makes it naturally smoother and creamier, without the need to add in additional fat and emulsifiers to create a delicious rich, creamy texture.

Well, having tasted their ice cream, we can confirm that this method certainly creates an amazing taste sensation.

After ordering you can watch as they create your ice cream from scratch. Above and below you can see how the Coco Lovin’ is made with coconut cream, lychees and blueberries. The Scroll ice cream maker swiftly chops up the ingredients with two sharp metal spatulas, smoothing them flat on the freezing plate.

The thin layer of ice cream is then scraped up into… scrolls!

Extra ingredients are also added to the cup. Clockwise from top left we also had the Mango Unchained; Say Cheese (cheesecake flavour); Oreo Serious; and another Oreo Serious that was ordered without strawberries.

The flavour of the mango one is absolutely amazing – it is seriously like eating a smooth sweet ripe cold mango in Summer – and will remind you of a tropical holiday. Same with the Coconut, lychee and blueberries – the intense flavour of each ingredient shines through every smooth mouthful.  The Oreo ones are a hit with the kids and the Say Cheese with baked New York cheesecake, strawberries and biscuit dust is fabulous too.

There’s a couple of small tables at the back of the shop as well as this cute area at the front, where kids will feel right at home with little tables and chairs.

There are also some cushions on the floor to use too.

You can play a game of Connect 4 or there’s a mini Guess Who as well.

Be sure to take a photo of your angels in front of the wall art in the lane. And if you’re not tall enough to be at the right height of the wings, just get a little lift from your big sister.

As a family of ice cream lovers we are very impressed with the taste and quality of Scroll ice cream. It’s a huge flavour sensation that is unlike any other ice cream. Scroll is a cute looking ice creamery that’s colourful and fun which kids will love, and don’t forget the entertainment of watching the ice cream being made from scratch. It’s a must visit ice creamery for all ice cream fans.
