ACTIVITIES

Ice Skating Rink

At the heart of the SkatingAt Festival, is the ice skating rink. They offer Kanga ride-ons for beginners. You can see these blue Kangas in our photos below. If you went along to Santa’s Wonderland last year, you will be familiar with them. They are great as they give you the option to push them around as something to hold onto, or a child can sit on it and can be pushed around for a ride.

The Ferris Wheel

Our friend Peter Lohmann from South Australia’s Best Kept Secret tells us that this is the largest completely transportable Ferris Wheel, ever to come to Adelaide. It’s not the largest in Australia, but the largest one that’s visited here. Standing 35 metres tall, riders will get fantastic views of the city and surrounding areas. There are 20 carriages each holding up to 6 people, so queues or waiting time are cut down. At night it lights up in colours.
This Ferris Wheel is so big it takes 8 people 3 days to assemble, and after the festival, 8 people 2 days to disassemble. It is so big it is transported on four semi trailers, three of these trailers bolt together to become the wheel & the fourth trailer transports the carriages etc (a bit like a Transformer).
