St Kilda Playground closed coronavirus COVID-19

Popular family favourite St Kilda Adventure Playground is closed until further notice in response to the coronavirus COVID-19

The City of Salisbury posted this update on their website and Facebook page on Friday 27 March 2020. With school holidays on the way when St Kilda Playground is a popular destination for families, the council have decided to close the playground in the interest of public health.

Here is what they had to say:

ST KILDA ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND CLOSED

St Kilda Adventure Playground is a large destination playground and a drawcard for families from across South Australia. Due to these factors, we are not able to effectively manage the risk of exposure and spread of COVID-19. In response, we have made the decision to close the playground to ensure the safety of our community.

If people choose to visit our other local outdoor gyms, playgrounds, parks and reserves, they are urged to practice caution and implement their own health measures. Signage depicting health and safety guidelines is being placed at these outdoor spaces across the City of Salisbury region.

We are also conducting regular patrols to ensure health and hygiene advice is being followed including social distancing practices. This information is also being distributed both within flyers during patrols and via our website and social media platforms.

LIBRARY SERVICES

The Click and Collect and home delivery library services are proving popular with the public.

We are proud to be able to offer this flexible approach to accessing our library services, and have put in appropriate measures to improve safety.

These include a 14-day quarantine period for returns and the sanitisation of returned items.

When borrowing library books, please remember to wash your hands thoroughly before and after handling the books, exercise good personal hygiene and avoid touching your face while reading.

WASTE COLLECTION

All waste management services will continue to operate as usual, including your standard kerbside rubbish collection.

The two Resource Recovery Centres (at Edinburgh North and Pooraka) are still open; however from Monday 4 May 2020 they will no longer accept cash payments.
