A new generation will soon be introduced to the wondrous world of Storm Boy and Mr Percival the pelican as the new film opens in cinemas in January 2019.
Based on the much loved book, Storm Boy is a highly emotional tale of a young boy named Mike growing up on the beautiful, uninhabited coastline of South Australia. When Mike unexpectedly rescues and then raises three orphaned pelicans, he forms a close bond with them and finds himself at odds with his fisherman father. Mike’s life takes a new and unexpected turn in this beautiful and contemporary retelling of Colin Thiele’s classic tale. Storm Boy was shot in South Australia showcasing our stunning Coorong region.
Directed by Shawn Seet, Strom Boy stars Geoffrey Rush, Jai Courtney, Trevor Jamieson, Morgana Davies and Finn Little as ‘Storm Boy’. Rush plays the grown-up version of Mike, recounting his childhood adventures to his troubled granddaughter.
