Superloop Adelaide 500
The Adelaide 500 is Australia’s largest domestic motorsport event and widely regarded as one of the best touring car races in the world.
The Superloop Adelaide 500 doesn’t just provide great on-track excitement – it’s a four-day festival with headline concerts, off-track excitement and right amid the party atmosphere of ‘Mad March’ in Adelaide. In 2020, the supercharged closing-night concert will be headlined by South Australia’s own Hilltop Hoods – READ MORE HERE.
Adelaide’s pedigree for hosting world-class motorsport is unrivaled in Australia. Once home of the FIA Formula One World Championship’s Australian Grand Prix, pro motorsport returned to Adelaide in 1999 with the Sensational Adelaide 500 pitting the nation’s favourite four-door sedans – the Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon – against one another.
Taking place on a shortened version of the former Formula One grand prix circuit, it features some of Australia’s favourite corners, including the Senna Chicane, the deep-braking hairpin at Turn 9 and the now infamous Turn 8 sweeper.
OFF-TRACK ACTION & ENTERTAINMENT
Entertainment is paramount at the Adelaide 500. Another major component of the event is the air displays with top-line military aircraft from the Australian Defence Force. As a benefit of Adelaide’s unique circuit with its combination of near downtown city streets and parkland areas, the atmosphere of the event flows over to adjacent entertainment precincts – when the Adelaide 500 is on, Adelaide becomes a party town with street events and other forms of entertainment, all of course with a motorsport flavour.
Built into the Adelaide 500 are some 90 individual events including a Ladies Day Luncheon, charity luncheons with Supercar drivers, driver autograph sessions, beach and fashion parades, exotic vehicle displays, sideshows, family entertainment and much, much more.
The after-race line-up begins on Friday night with ARIA Award winners Grinspoon headlining the night, alongside dance sensation Sneaky Sound System and Adelaide’s own The Superjesus, fronted by original rock chick Sarah McLeod.
Fan favorites Pete Murray and Sheppard will take to the stage on Saturday night before the Hilltop Hoods, joined by Illy and G Flip on the Sunday.
The concert precinct is situated in front of the Victoria Park Heritage Grandstand, creating a central hub with access to a myriad of premium food and beverage offerings.

All the acts are supported by Music SA Bands on Track.
The City of Adelaide Traction Zone is returning to the Superloop Adelaide 500 in 2020, so the whole family can enjoy a day of family fun and racing. It’s the place to be for families, and is free to access for all ticket holders.
Your home of all things family fun is also moving in 2020 – you can find the TrAction Zone on the CBC Middle Oval, creating a spacious area for families and kids to enjoy.
As well as all of their family fun activities, you’ll find dedicated food and beverage facilities and a big screen, so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the on-track action while the kids have their fun!
Rev It Up Racing
Kids can take the role of their favourite driver and team when they try the Rev It Up racing simulators or Pit Stop Challenge. There are lots of racing simulators out there but not all are sized for kids. See the kids’ faces light up as they experience the excitement and adrenaline rush of car racing scaled to their level.
Don’t forget a driver needs a crew and this activity is especially designed for smaller kids. Take on the Formula 1 Pit Stop Challenge and race to complete a pit stop with speed and accuracy.
The Superloop Adelaide 500 will be visited by some of South Aystralia’s favourite sports teams. Kids can have a go at kicking and handballing with SANFL’s awesome range of inflatables. Tennis fans can shoot their best serve at the Tennis SA Hot Shots Court. Soccer Mad? Show off your shooting skills at Adelaide United’s inflatable goals. Future cricket stars can practice their batting, bowling and catching skills with SACA’s Classic Catch and Single Lane Net.
No visit to the Superloop Adelaide 500 is complete without some face painting, especially loved by the little ones. Get your team colours or flags painted proudly, or whatever you’d like.
Karting SA Display
This is where the racing starts! From Lewis Hamilton to Daniel Riccardo, Nick Percat to Todd Hazelwood, most of your favourite Supercars and F1 drivers had their start in Karting. From little ones to grown-ups, everyone will love checking out the karts on display. Chat to Karting SA about getting involved, and starting your karting journey.
