Tasting Australia 2020

Australia’s premier eating and drinking festival – Tasting Australia presented by RAA Travel – will return to Adelaide and regional South Australia from 9 to 18 October 2020.

After the announcement that the 2020 festival originally scheduled for April was postponed, Tasting Australia has booked in a date for Spring and will return to deliver more of the deliciously unique experiences you love.

The 10-day event will continue to showcase the best of South Australian food, wine and beverage experiences, delivering a program that invites foodies and wine lovers to celebrate.

Events South Australia Executive Director Hitaf Rasheed said Tasting Australia not only generates economic benefit for the state, but it is hoped the announcement of the new date can give confidence to the food and beverage sector and so many who are doing it tough right now.

“Tasting Australia is one of the country’s leading food and beverage festivals, so it’s heartening to be able to secure a new date for the 2020 event, one which promises to be extra special for all involved,” says Ms. Rasheed.

“The world is enduring an unprecedented set of circumstances right now. There’s never been a more important time to support each other. We hope Tasting Australia will be able to provide that support to our events sector, our regions, our local, national and international chefs and producers, and our culinary tourism businesses.”

The new dates have the full support of Premier Steven Marshall, who says the announcement is good news for the state.

“We look forward to the revised Tasting Australia schedule to mark our visitor economy getting back to normal,” says Mr. Marshall.

“This is an important event for our state and our community that showcases our wonderful food, wine and hospitality scene.”

International headliner Marco Pierre White has confirmed his availability for the festival’s new dates, alongside national festival ambassadors Matt Moran and Darren Robertson. Local talent including Maggie Beer, Emma McCaskill, Karena Armstrong, Paul Baker, Adam Liston, Duncan Welgemoed and festival patron Cheong Liew have also stated they are onboard with the new dates.

Although the new dates come from the decision to postpone Tasting Australia due to COVID-19 regulations, Festival Director Simon Bryant says the move to spring offers great opportunity for the festival.

“Springtime is absolutely beautiful in South Australia and the abundance of produce we will have at our fingertips is exciting for me and all the chefs involved,” says Mr. Bryant.

“Holding the event in October will add exciting new experiences to Tasting Australia, allowing us to deliver exceptional menus that highlight the best produce South Australia has to offer. I can’t wait to show our visiting chefs and winemakers the state in all its springtime glory.”

Current tickets to Tasting Australia events are transferable to these new dates. They are now confirming all programming and will continue to update their website with the latest details. Your patience during this process is appreciated.

The new program will be release in due course.
