Tealicious Cakes at Willunga

Review by Jo Parkinson

If you enjoy cupcakes, coffee and cuteness, then hop on into Tealicious!

This pretty little boutique cupcake shop is situated in the heart of Willunga, on Aldinga Road. Owner Natasha has perfected not only the delicious treats on offer, but the stunning styling as well. The pale pink shop front is a standout on the street, and if you look closely at this time of year, you will see an Easter bunny or two decorating the main window. The gorgeous Easter decorations continue inside on the display shelves and counter, making it the perfect spot to bring the kids in to feel the magic of the season. There are also Easter-themed cupcakes and cookies available for purchase, making them a great alternative gift to chocolate.

Once you step inside the shop, you are transported to a world of pink and white feminine charm, complete with crystal chandeliers and even a pink coffee machine. French provincial furniture features prominently and fresh flowers are placed on each table, giving the place a special touch.

Your eyes are immediately drawn to the exquisite cupcakes in the display cabinet, and the only problem you will have to worry about is which flavour (or two!) to pick! Some of these include lemon meringue (my favourite!), cookies and cream, raspberry and white chocolate and Mars bar. There are gluten-free and vegan options also available. If you have a special occasion coming up, Natasha and her team can make amazing custom cupcakes to suit your theme.

You are spoilt for choice when it comes to cups of tea, with a large selection on offer. Try a Peppermint Please, Apple Crumble or Green Citrus Cleanse for something a little different. The coffee is fantastic, and babycinos are served with sprinkles on top, which is a surprise the kids love. Almond, soy, coconut, and lactose-free milk are available for those who prefer it. A small range of food such as croissants, wraps and rolls are available, perfect for brunch or a light lunch with friends. Everything is presented on beautiful china, making a simple coffee date feel like a special occasion. If you are a fan of pretty cups and saucers, you can purchase a range of giftware from the Christina Re collection.

For an extra special experience, Tealicious prepare delicate high teas, but keep in mind this does need to be booked in advance. Not only will you enjoy a selection of delicious sandwiches, homemade scones, pastries and cakes, but also have a wonderful time that won’t be forgotten easily! High teas can also be made to take away so you can choose your location if needed.

Diners can sit inside or outside in the undercover area. Booking ahead is recommended, especially if you are coming in a group as seating is limited. Takeaway is also available, with cupcakes carefully placed in boxes.

Tealicious is open Thursday to Saturday 7am til 4pm and Sunday 10am til 4pm. Please note that the shop will be closed on Good Friday. I highly recommend coming in and experiencing this gorgeous shop for yourself. The food, drinks, décor and staff are fabulous and you will keep coming back for more!
