SteamRanger Train Journey – The Southern Encounter
SteamRanger Heritage Railway operates a number of different heritage steam and diesel hauled tourist trains between Mt Barker in the Adelaide Hills, up over the crest of the southern Mt Lofty Ranges, down to Strathalbyn and on through the coastal holiday towns of Goolwa and Port Elliot to the tourist resort town of Victor Harbor.
The Southern Encounter
The Southern Encounter usually operates on the first and third Sundays from May until the end of November, however due to COVID restrictions they had to put all trips on hold. Trains will be back running again from Sunday 16 August 2020!
2020 Dates:
- 16 & 30 August 2020
- 6 & 20 September 2020
- 4 & 18 October 2020 (First Class option for 18 October 2020 TBC)
- 1 & 15 November 2020 (Santa Special TBC)
The journey takes you from Mt Barker, down the southern Mt Lofty Ranges, calling in at Strathalbyn, Goolwa, Port Elliot and Victor Harbor.
Details:
- The Southern Encounter operates from Mount Barker station to Victor Harbor with a 3 hour stopover
- Departs Mt Barker 10am, returns 6pm.

BOOKINGS
Steamranger Heritage Railway are in the process of bringing their online bookings back online after being closed due to COVID, so they ask that bookings are made over the phone for now on 1300 655 991.
Tickets:
- Adult: $75
- Child: $40
- Senior: $66
- Family: $188
