Thorndon Park Reserve
Thorndon Park Reserve in Paradise is a huge park with much to offer. Set around the old reservoir you will find picturesque walking trails through the natural wetlands and you could take along bikes and scooters to roam around on too. There are plenty of ducks and other wildlife to spot.
The playground offers play equipment for children of all ages and abilities, including a liberty disabled swing. The kids all love the whizzing swing (see pic at bottom right below).
The best thing about the playground is that much of it is covered by shade cloth. I wish more great playgrounds had this!
It is not fenced though and the lake is nearby, so caution must be taken with little ones.
There are bbq facilities, toilets, table and benches, plenty of shady areas for a picnic and big open grassy areas for running around and ball games.
The kiosk is open on the weekends for refreshments and snacks.
You will find the beautiful rotunda there. Plus there is a huge undercover pavilion area (see pic at bottom right below) near the playground. This is perfect for any parties or large gatherings. We found this to be particularly useful on one of our visits when it poured with rain!
A small heritage museum is open each weekend adjacent to the kiosk. Both the kiosk and museum are proudly operated by the Rotary Club of Morialta.
Thorndon Park is open to the general public at all hours. Please note, however, that the car park is locked between the hours of sunset and sunrise each day. Also note that Dogs are prohibited in the park at all times.
This is a fabulous open play space which sometimes hosts some great community events, such as the Campbelltown Moonlight Markets.
See the Campbelltown City Council website here for more information about Thorndon Park.
