The Tomato Festival at the Adelaide Botanic Garen is back in 2014, bigger and juicier than before!
The Tomato Festival brings together tomato gardeners and home cooks from across South Australia to share the benefits of home-grown produce, promote the diversity of tomato varieties and inspire cooks to embrace the versatile tomato in new ways. With a range of activities on offer, there is something to excite any interest or level of expertise.
The weekend will also feature tomato-themed workshops, cooking demonstrations, fun activities for kids and special guided walks by the Friends of the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide.
Tomato Festival is a joint event of the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide and The Digger’s Club.

Plus there are Free activities for kids.
The Tasty Tomato Trail is a great way for families to explore the beautiful Adelaide Botanic Garden while continuing to learn more about the huge range of tomato varieties. Participants will receive a map and instructions and will explore Adelaide Botanic Garden looking for large tomato information cards. All forms which are completed and returned to the Visitor Centre will win a packet of seeds from Digger’s. Tasty Tomato Trail sheets can be collected from the Visitor Centre at the Schomburgk Pavilion between 10am and 4pm during the Tomato Festival.
A range of free, hand-on kids activities will also be on offer Activities include paint a pot, tomato tags, bird scarers and soil testing. These activities will be available on Plane Tree Lawn.
Family fun time
All children are welcome to join in and enjoy a variety of fun activities guaranteed to bring their green thumbs to life.
Activities will take place between 11am and 3pm on Plane Tree Lawn.
Come and join in the fun of a Cherry Tomato and Spoon Race, prizes for the winners.
The whole family can enjoy a tomato inspired game on the lawns under the shade of our trees.
