The Uraidla Hotel – Family Friendly Pub in the Adelaide Hills

The Uraidla Hotel is a beautiful pub in the Adelaide Hills where you will always receive a warm welcome, fresh food and there’s space for the kids to play.

The Uraidla Hotel has undergone a massive transformation in the last few years and it is a popular dining spot with locals and visitors alike.

The hotel was built around 1867, partially burned down in 1939 and then rebuilt in the art deco style. However, for many years, the hotel remained vacant until 2016 after significant renovations were completed.

The hotel now features a large indoor dining room, smaller, cosy rooms upstairs and down, a front bar, outdoor deck and two casual outdoor eating areas.

The lower dining area overlooks a garden and features huge glass windows, so it is bright and welcoming while the smaller upstairs rooms and side rooms are good if you are looking for a quieter space or hosting a private function.

The outdoor area at the back of the hotel is perfect for families with kids as the adults can relax, eat, drink and talk while watching the kids play. You can also watch the sun set behind Mt Lofty in the distance.

Kids can visit the chook house, see the beehive, stroll past the impressive veggie patch and play on the grass. There is also a small swing set and slide, giant games to play, rocks to climb and paths to wander.

Fresh vegetables and fruit are harvested from the impressive veggie patch for use in the hotel’s kitchen.

Inside the hotel, there are plenty of mismatched, recycled and antique items of furniture which reflect the owners’ ethos of recycling and reusing items.

The menu incorporates standard fare such as fish and chips, steaks and chicken parmigiana. However, a portion of the menu is seasonal and there are a range of more exotic choices with many ingredients hand-picked from their veggie patch.

There is also a great kids menu featuring standard dishes cooked with fresh ingredients, like cheesy pasta, fish and chips and ice-cream. No chicken chipboard nuggets here! There are also simple finger food and side salads available for kids at low cost. We particularly like the onion rings and bucket chips which are always tasty and cooked to perfection.

There are simple ice cream desserts for the kids and more interesting and delectable desserts for the adults.

There’s beer on tap, made next door at the Uraidla Republic Cafe, Bakery & Brewery plus a large range of wines by the glass and bottle.

What we love about the Uraidla Pub:

  • Lovely relaxed atmosphere
  • Great outdoor seating area
  • Cosy rooms for quieter dining with small groups
  • Lovely grassy area, swing set and areas for the kids to roam
  • Lovely fresh seasonal food and good wine
