Virtual Classrooms for South Australian Public School Teachers | Coronavirus Update | 3 Apr 2020

Stephen Gardner & Steven Marshall

A virtual classroom platform has been launched to help teachers support South Australian students learning from home.

South Australian public school teachers will be able to use a new virtual classroom platform which has been designed to facilitate flexible learning in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The South Australian Government has launched the platform in partnership with Cisco and Telstra to assist students with the challenge of learning between school and home during the coronavirus pandemic.

The platform enables teachers to create their own individual online learning space so that they can deliver live video lessons and content to students in their class. It has been created to complement the Our Learning SA website and hard copy learning materials.

Education Minister John Gardner said,

The coronavirus pandemic is throwing up complex challenges, and we hope that introducing platforms like Webex can help to keep learning simple for our students.

Together with the Our Learning SA website, and hard copy learning materials, virtual classrooms will help ensure that all South Australian students have access to learning from the curriculum.

This announcement forms part of the State Government’s strong plan to minimise the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on South Australians.

I would like to thank both Cisco and Telstra for their rapid response in helping us establish this platform for South Australian schools and families.
