Join Adelaide Zoo or Monarto Safari Park in celebrating a spot-tacular day on Friday 21 June 2024… it’s World Giraffe Day!
Plan your day out and go along dressed in spots, something yellow or your favourite orange outfit to raise awareness for this bold and beautiful animal.
At Monarto Safari Park there will be a free finger puppet for little ones to collect from the front gates and free face painting between 12pm and 2pm. A special giraffe keeper talk will be held at 11:05am at the Waterhole (Giraffe Platform).
Visit Adelaide Zoo on World Giraffe Day to spend the day with gentle giants Kimya, Nolean and Matumi, plus as a special treat add a $15 Giraffe Feed to your zoo adventure. Kids can collect a free finger puppet from admissions and be sure to drop by the Orientation Zone, just in from the main entrance and opposite the Zoo Shop, between 12pm and 2pm for free face painting. A Giraffe Keeper Talk will be held at 1:15pm at the Giraffe Habitat.
By visiting, taking part in a giraffe experience or picking up a spotty souvenir from the shop, you’re supporting these leggy legends not only at the zoo but also in the wild.
Did you know Monarto Safari Park has the largest herd of giraffes in Australia? These leggy legends can run as fast as 50 kilometres per hour and only need between 5-30 minutes of sleep per day. They have a bluish-purple tongue that’s between 45-50 centimetres long as you can see in our photos below!
