VOILA! Tales of a Magical Circus | Adelaide Fringe 2014 Review

the-bally-2014

Voila! is the delightful show by quirky Melbourne duo Lee Cohen and Emma Shepherd.  The combination of an entertaining magician and a talented circus performer keeps little ones engaged for 45 minutes of tricks as they follow the storyline of Emma’s wish to have Lee magically make a ‘real’ bunny appear!

Lee engages the audience with her magic tricks, asking for volunteers from the crowd to give her a hand on stage – something the kids love!  From her simple card trick of dots that magically appear and disappear to her final act of making Emma’s wish come true, Lee has the young crowd calling out and interacting with each performance.

Emma’s strength is her fabulous display with hula hoops – even with just one she is mesmerising, but with multiple hoops she is spell binding!  She also performs hoop diving with incredible grace.

Together the girls put on a charming display perfectly suited to a younger audience.  Unlike some venues, The Bally is air-conditioned and although it’s small, is comfortable enough with floor cushions along the front row for younger ticket holders.  After the show you can meet Emma and Lee outside The Bally and there may even be a fluffy white friend to greet too!
