Adelaide’s Festival Plaza has a new outdoor artwork installation that kids can climb on! Get in quick to check out the Flowbars sculptures while they’re here for the April 2024 school holidays.
Flowbars Sculpture 4.0 and Flow Bar Minis is Festival Plaza’s second outdoor art commission. In collaboration with Seb Humphreys, aka @Order55, the sculptures resemble a drawing – a fluid tangle of lines that has grown from the page to physical reality.
A convergence of science, art and play, they’re designed to spark curiosity, and it certainly achieved that when we visited!
@Flow.Bars are sculptures that exist at the convergence of art and science. Merging innovative design with multiple functionalities, the interactive forms invite exploration and spark curiosity.
There’s not too many sculptures that come with a sign saying “climb on me”, but these do! Kids will love climbing and moving through the tangled web of bars and using their creativity. These are not your ordinary monkey bars!
There are two pieces in the plaza, a mini flowbar – perfect for little kids, and a bigger one that will entice the biggest of kids (there were adults that couldn’t resist a climb when we visited).
Both pieces are placed on soft fall and are a must-see if you’re in the city these holidays. Don’t forget to snap some amazing pictures.
