BLAK NITE 2026 at Carclew: BARKAA Headlines First Nations Music & Culture Festival in Adelaide

One of Australia’s most powerful and uncompromising First Nations voices, BARKAA, is set to headline BLAK NITE 2026 at Carclew on Friday 1 May – leading a one-night festival that brings together music, culture and community in a vibrant, multi-artform celebration.

Positioned as a standout event on Adelaide’s cultural calendar, BLAK NITE continues to champion First Nations artists while creating space for storytelling, connection and creative expression across generations.

Alongside BARKAA, BLAK NITE 2026 features a diverse lineup showcasing the depth of First Nations talent across music, dance and performance, including:

  • Nathan May & Band
  • Cringetrender
  • Katie Aspel
  • Sandy Abbott
  • DJ SVVLO
  • WAYIN:THI Dance Collective
  • Gig Rig Tracks Youth performers

This carefully curated program highlights both established and emerging voices, reinforcing BLAK NITE’s role as a platform for the next generation of First Nations creatives.

Set across the historic grounds of Carclew, BLAK NITE 2026 transforms the venue into an immersive festival space. Visitors can explore:

  • Live music and performance stages
  • Hands-on workshops and art-making
  • Market stalls and food trucks
  • Interactive installations and family-friendly activations

Experiences include Patch Theatre’s Light n’ Glow tents, jewellery-making workshops with Haus of Dizzy, and a collaborative Posca art wall led by Shane Cook, who also created the event’s merchandise and branding.
