Mediterranean Garden

The Botanic Garden’s own Mediterranean oasis showcases flora from a variety of warm weather destinations including the Mediterranean basin, South Africa, Central Chile and California.

But, the real highlight of this stunning garden is the metres-long water feature that streams down the entire length of the footpath. Children love to use this waterway to race sticks and leaves with friends and siblings.

The Museum

Right next door to the Mediterranean Garden is the Santos Museum of Economic Botany.  With rows of ancient artefacts and plant specimens, the museum is a treasure trove of interesting discoveries perfect for every little historian. You never know what you’ll find inside the building’s walls.

Can you find a red mushroom, super-sized seed or spot some Egyptian mummy linen? Challenge your kids to a scavenger hunt or spend time playing I-spy in this collection of curiosities.

The Kitchen Garden

Located on the eastern side, the Little Sprouts Kitchen Garden shows children where our food comes from and highlights how much fun it can be to grow your own fresh ingredients.

Stimulate your senses by exploring the sights, smells and textures of the wide variety of edible plants on show.   This colourful selection of plants will inspire delicious home cooked meals for years to come.
