The South Australian Tourism Commission has launched a recovery campaign for the regions devastated by the recent bushfires in South Australia.
The campaign, “Help them out, #BookThemOut”, will focus on encouraging people to visit the Adelaide Hills and Kangaroo Island to boost bookings and help reinvigorate the local economies.
Now more than ever, our beautiful Adelaide Hills and Kangaroo Island regions need our support. Tourism is vital for these regional economies to rebuild after the recent Cudlee Creek and Kangaroo Island bushfires. Don’t put off making plans to visit – gather your family or round up some friends and plan a trip to one of the many regions that have remained open or plan to re-open in the near future.
So much of the Adelaide Hills and Kangaroo Island still look exactly as you’d expect, unspoiled, pure and naturally flawless. It is a huge challenge to #BookThemOut, but together, over time, every trip we make and every dollar we spend in these regions will make a difference.
Working in partnership with industry, the campaign is designed to encourage people locally, as well as those interstate, to travel (‘book out’) the Adelaide Hills and Kangaroo Island for a holiday, short stay or experience – an integral part of the long-term recovery strategy. Unfortunately so many businesses have had cancellations, even into the second half of 2020, and many are unaware how much there is to still see and do in these beautiful regions.
SATC Chief Executive Rodney Harrex said tourism across the country has taken a hit by recent events, and this campaign is an important immediate step forward in the sector’s long-term recovery.
“Help them out, #BookThemOut is a strong message that the Adelaide Hills and Kangaroo Island remain amazing, unique holiday destinations with incredible consumer experiences, and these regions need tourism to thrive and survive. Tourists can play a big part in helping these regions get back on their feet by sharing their experiences on social networks,” he said.
“Tourism and visitation play such a vital role in these regions. It’s now more important than ever that people travel to the Adelaide Hills and Kangaroo Island to engage with the local producers, growers, and tourism operators to support them and help them recover.”
The campaign is being launched across TV, press and outdoor, as well as digital and social media platforms, with a large part of the campaign driven through social, user generated content and PR. Here at Play & Go we are hoping to share this message with our readers and encourage you to visit when you can with your families as we plan to do. Members of our team last visited Kangaroo Island in 2015 so we are long overdue to return, but you can read our wonderful review HERE.
