Behind Closed Doors at the National Railway Museum in Port Adelaide.

Once again the Railway Museum will be holding its BEHIND CLOSED DOORS event as part of the SA History Festival. Vehicles and areas that will be specially opened for inspection, attended by NRM volunteers, include:

  • 2000 series Jumbo railcar
  • Budd railcar CB1
  • Brill 75 type railcar 41 (not the engine room)
  • Steam loco cabins – Garratt 409, 752
  • Carriages – V&SAR Joint Stock sleeper ONKAPARINGA, the CR Pay Van
  • Signal cabin from WoodvilleTrain cab simulator will be available all day long during both days.

Additionally, the blue steam engine BUB will be taking visitors around the site and operational Bluebird railcar 257 KESTREL (sole surviving of its type) will be making runs on their 600m exhibition line, every 20 minutes. On Sunday, 10 May, the popular Redhen railcars will do the runs!

All train rides are included with admission. 

Catering will be available from Rotary in the Cafe car, and Prospect Scouts with their BBQ.
