Lighthouse Youth Projects Mega 2 for 1 Bike Sale and Sausage Sizzle.
About LYP
LYP use donated bikes or find bikes in hard rubbish and make every effort they can to make them usable again. Buying a secondhand bike from Lighthouse is not only ethical and sustainable but the proceeds raised go straight back into supporting the young people they work with.
All of the bikes that are for sale have been put together in their mentoring programme, with 100% of the sale proceeds going straight back into tools and programme development. This programme exists to help socially and economically disadvantaged young South Australians gain real work skills through bicycle maintenance and bicycle driven mentoring, delivered by qualified mentors.
Please access the headquarters via the Southern end of Lipson Street, Port Adelaide.
Bike Donations:
If you’ve got a bike you’d like to donate, visit their website to fill in their donation form HERE before dropping it off. Otherwise, they generally accept bike donations on the last Friday of each month between 10am-12pm at their headquarters in Port Adelaide.
Donations will either be used in mentoring sessions to teach basic mechanic skills, as a bicycle for a participant to ride during a program, or will be repaired and sold at one of the Bike Sales with proceeds going to the mentoring programs.
