Café de Grove & Garden Grove | Golden Grove | Review

Great coffee, retail therapy, lots of plants to browse and buy plus a shaded outdoor playground for the kids to enjoy! Garden Grove is more than just a plant shop but a suburban hidden gem that caters well to families.

If you live around the Golden Grove area, it’s likely you will have driven past Garden Grove or heard of it. Whilst a plant shop is often not the first place you think of when planning a family outing or heading out for a coffee, this place is well worth a visit with kids.

Pulling up to Garden Grove, the kids instantly noticed the outdoor playground and begged to check it out. We walked past outdoor pots, a lovely retail space, through the café and made our way outside towards the playground. The playground is fully fenced and located right next to the indoor/ outdoor Café de Grove. There is a bench inside the fenced playground for parents to sit, and the café has multiple tables and chairs set up outside where you can eat, have a coffee, and easily watch your children.

The playground is compact in size but features a wobbly bridge, monkey bars, large noughts and crosses and a two-person slide. The other fabulous thing about this play space is that it is shaded, so it’s great for sunny days.

After letting the children expend their energy on the playground, we lured them away with the promise of a babyccino, which came adorned with sprinkles, a chocolate smiley face and a marshmallow. The café also offers barista coffee, sweet treats and a casual breakfast, lunch and light eats menu with vegetarian and gluten-free options.

Aside from the café and playground, Garden Grove offers a large selection of retail items for the garden and outdoor areas, including some nice gift items for the home. The staff are also incredibly helpful and passionate about plants, so they are a great port of call for advice and plant purchases.

So if you are seeking a quiet place for a spot of shopping, a coffee pit stop and an outing where the kids can get out of the house and have a little play, give Café de Grove a try.
