Circus Wonderland – A Neverland Adventure – Adelaide Fringe 2023 Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars for awe-inspiring tricks, fantastic storytelling and family-friendly banter.

Review by Claire Davill

Circus Wonderland – A Neverland Adventure is the perfect family-friendly circus show. The Spiegeltent is a cozy venue where the action is right up close – at times the performers feel like they are flying over your head!

As you enter the tent, smoky bubbles invite chasing and popping, and as everyone is finding a seat, the cast engage with the audience. Captain Hook and Tinkerbell chase each other through the audience, and Smee interacts cheekily with adults and kids alike.

The show seamlessly weaves the story of Peter Pan with impressive circus feats, including juggling, acrobatics, slapstick and aerials. The costumes are bright and sparkly, the music is on point, and the sound design just right – it’s never too loud or overwhelming for little ones.

The cast keep the show moving at a good pace, so kids don’t get bored. No act goes on for too long, and the setup between acts is fast. The cast members continue to engage with the audience between acts to keep kids and adults involed. The cast clearly love what they do, and their circus skills are impressive.

Circus Wonderland – A Neverland Adventure is the perfect Fringe experience for younger children, and older children and adults will get a kick out of it too. The venue is in the small Wonderland Fringe Hub in Hindmarsh Square, which provides a lovely, quieter base compared to the Garden of Unearthly Delights or Gluttony.

While small, there’s still space to spread out and sit under the trees on picnic tables and sun loungers before or after the show, and there are ample toilets nearby and a range of food and drink options including popcorn, donuts, slushies, pizza and yiros.
