Cirque du Soleil KURIOS - Cabinet of Curiosities Adelaide

Cirque du Soleil’s KURIOS™ – Cabinet of Curiosities touring Adelaide in May & June 2020.

Following the cancellations and/or postponement of numerous Cirque du Soleil shows in recent days and taking into consideration the WHO and CDC recommendations, as well as the escalation of COVID-19 pandemic, Cirque du Soleil announced immediate temporary suspension of the Adelaide KURIOS™ tour.

Cirque du Soleil will return to Australia from October 2019 with its most acclaimed touring show, KURIOS™ – Cabinet of Curiosities.

Cirque du Soleil will return to Adelaide and a new venue next year with its most acclaimed touring show, KURIOS™ – Cabinet of Curiosities.  Opening on Friday 29 May 2020, their signature big top will be located at the Adelaide Showground in Goodwood.

A World of Curiosities to Unravel….

Step into the curio cabinet of an ambitious inventor who defies the laws of time, space and dimension in order to reinvent everything around him. Suddenly, the visible becomes invisible, perspectives are transformed, and the world is literally turned upside down.

Cirque du Soleil KURIOS - Cabinet of Curiosities Adelaide

In an alternate yet familiar past, in a place where wonders abound for those who trust their imagination, a Seeker discovers that in order to glimpse the marvels that lie just below the surface, we must first learn to close our eyes.  In his larger-than-life curio cabinet, the Seeker is convinced that there exists a hidden, invisible world – a place where the craziest ideas and the grandest dreams await.

A collection of otherworldly characters suddenly steps into his makeshift mechanical world. When the outlandish, benevolent characters turn his world upside down with a touch of poetry and humor in an attempt to ignite the Seeker’s imagination, his curios jump to life one by one before his very eyes.  What if by engaging our imagination and opening our minds we could unlock the door to a world of wonders?

KURIOS™ – Cabinet of Curiosities is Cirque du Soleil’s 35th production since 1984.  Cabinets of curiosities are the ancestors of museums, also known as cabinet of wonder in the Renaissance Europe. Aristocrats, members of the merchant class and early practitioners of science formed collections of historical relics, works of art or mysterious travel souvenirs or artefacts.

KURIOS™ – Cabinet of Curiosities has a cast of 46 artists from 16 different countries. About 60% of the artists have already worked with Cirque du Soleil before.
