Cleland Wildlife Park Butterfly Aviary | Review

Cleland Wildlife Park Butterfly Aviary

Cleland Wildlife Park is now home to a butterfly aviary which will delight butterfly lovers of all ages. The new addition to the park features butterflies which are native to our local South Australian environment.

Visitors are able to move around the outside of the aviary to view the butterflies from different angles. You may even be lucky enough to have them land on the wire and see them up close.

Summer is the perfect time to visit, as these little creatures are out and about a lot in the warmer weather. Watching the butterflies flutter silently by is rather peaceful and kids, in particular, will love watching these gentle little creatures.

There is also a fantastic butterfly display inside the Oceans-to-Outback room (this building is directly opposite the cafe/entrance). It’s hard not to be amazed by the life-cycle of a butterfly and this is presented in an easily understandable form for kids. There is also a vast collection of butterflies from around the world to view.

Mini conservationists and adults alike will appreciate that these butterflies are not simply for show, but are part of a program in conjunction with the Butterfly Conservation Society of SA to breed and release species of butterflies that are under threat back into the local environment.

The display inside will appeal to all ages, but it serves to educate visitors of the importance of butterflies within our ecology.

The Butterfly aviary is a lovely addition to Cleland Wildlife Park and we can’t wait to see how it progresses.
