South Australia’s largest cemetery will hold a special Father’s Day Tribute in September to honour the memory of fathers, grandfathers and other special men in our lives who are no longer with us.
To be held on Sunday 6 September at 10.00am at Centennial Park’s Jubilee Complex, the Tribute will begin with words of reflection by local civil celebrant Jane Ledgard, followed by a series of uplifting songs by local singer and performer Nicholas Cannon.
It will then conclude with a poignant release of biodegradable dove-shaped and crystal-blue balloons outside in the cemetery’s memorial gardens.
All South Australian families, friends and children are welcome to attend Centennial Park’s Father’s Day Tribute.
Members of the public are being encouraged to submit a personalised tribute message to their loved one ahead of the day, which will be attached to the balloons for release into the air.
Tributes can be submitted online via Centennial Park’s website here before Friday 4 September.
Centennial Park Chief Executive Officer Mr Bryan Elliott said Centennial Park was a special place where South Australians could go to remember and celebrate the lives of family and loved ones. “Father’s Day is a time for families to reflect upon and commemorate fathers, grandfathers, great grandfathers and other special men in our lives who have passed away,” he said.
“We look forward to hosting families on this very special day of reflection and honour.”
Centennial Park is SA’s largest cemetery. Set on 40 hectares of parkland, the cemetery has more than 50 individually themed gardens.
