GOAT movie is entertaining, wholesome and delivers strong life lessons on the importance of team work, believing in yourself and not giving up. If you are seeking a fun film the whole family will enjoy, look no further.

Review by Angelica-Hazel Toutounji

The film follows Will, a small goat with big dreams of playing roarball in the big leagues. Will is down on his luck with no money, no real prospects, just a dream that was ignited in him through his mother and her belief in him before she passed away years prior.

Will takes a chance playing off against Mane Attraction at his local court and attracts social media fame for his bravery and skills. His actions get him noticed by the manager of his favourite roarball team, the Thorns and he is signed in a ploy to garner media attention. Upon signing Will thinks his dreams are all coming true but there are some teething problems along the way as his favourite player, Jett isn’t too welcoming of the new recruit. The Thorns ultimately learn that if they want to be the best they can be and win the championship Claw, they need to work as a team.

This movie was upbeat, funny and enjoyable for adults as well as the four kids aged between five and nine that we had with us. It had a similar vibe to a basketball movie which was enjoyable for our sporty kids. The positive messaging of not giving up and working with others gave the film substance and heart. It was a fun experience watching this on the big screen and looking around we could see other groups of varying ages and genders laughing and enjoying the movie too.

So would we recommend the GOAT movie? Absolutely we would! It was the perfect feel good family movie that we were searching for with an easy to follow story line that kept our attention the entire time. If you are seeking a movie for a school holiday activity, definitely put this one on your list. We found our kids were super energetic after it ended so perhaps catch a morning movie session and spend the afternoon on the basketball court trying out their skills!

GOAT Movie was made by Sony Pictures Animation and produced by American professional basketball player, Stephen Curry. The film has a PG rating and an adventure, comedy and animation genre and a run time of 100 minutes.
