Adelaide Hills Slot Raceway | Review

*PERMANENTLY CLOSED*
Hidden up in Lobethal this nostalgic find is worth heading to the hills for.
Review by Ali Moylan (2015)
Walking through the doors is a step-back in time; the slot cars, arcade games, skill testers, friendly owners; and it seems that “kids these days” are just as into it as we used to be (or secretly still are!).
The prices are happily nostalgic too. $10* will rent you a car and give you access to all tracks for an hour, or half that price if you bring your own car.
(*price as at July 2015)

With six race tracks to move between it’s easy to spend an hour or two with the kids racing and enjoying the atmosphere.

The Adelaide Hills Slot Raceway is suitable for kids from 4 to 100 years olds. If your children are on the younger end of the scale its worth assigning yourself as ‘marshall’ to help put cars back on the track if they crash or skid off around the corners, but it really doesn’t take long for them to master the art of gliding around the tracks.

Save a few spare dollars to play the arcade video games, fooseball, ice hockey and pinball all of which are well maintained and worth the $1 or $2 of old-school fun.

If you’re keen and want to buy your own car there are plenty of models there to choose from and are worth the investment if you plan on becoming a regular. They also service and repair cars and tracks and sell all the various parts and pieces for the true hobbyists.

Kids parties are available to book (DIY catering) and would be nice as something a little bit different from the regular birthday activities.

Location:
60 Main Street, Lobethal

Can’t recommend this place highly enough. I take my children form time to time and have a blast. Very reasnonably priced. Light snacks available as well. Taking my nephew soon for his birthday.
