Everyone is going Pokémon Go crazy in Adelaide and both the South Australian Maritime Museum and National Motor Museum are getting in on the act.
SOUTH AUSTRALIAN MARITIME MUSEUM AUGMENTED REALITY APP
A new app created especially for The Art of Science: Baudin’s Voyagers 1800 -1804 exhibition at the South Australian Maritime Museum provides an extra special interaction helping the artworks to come alive! Using augmented reality technology, users can simply download the free app and interact with the exhibition.
The exhibition showcases original sketches and paintings created by Nicholas Baudin’s artists Charles- Alexandre Lesueur and Nicolas-Martin Petit during their exploration voyage of Australia in 1800. Lesueur and Petit created their paintings and drawings on the shores and off the coasts of Australia and captured some of the first European views of Australian animals, landscapes and some of the first portraits of Aboriginal people.
NATIONAL MOTOR MUSEUM VIRTUAL REALITY GAME
A Virtual Reality video game has been created especially for the Museum by local South Australian developers Novus-Res. Based on the 1980s Adelaide Grand Prix circuit using VR technology; this is brand new gaming which is fully immersive. Damon Hill, Ayrton Senna and Gerhard Bergher raced the famous track and now visitors can too and try and beat their own record. Experienced racing drivers who’ve tested out this game have said it’s the closest they’ve gotten to the real thing.
But if gaming isn’t appealing, it’s just as enjoyable to spot the famous landmarks such as the Stag Hotel and former Queen Victoria Hospital.
Open daily from 10am – 5pm, the South Australian Maritime Museum and the National Motor Museum offer fantastic activities for people of all ages.
