The South Australian Museum’s exhibition Shields: Power and protection in Aboriginal Australia is a fascinating exploration of the role of shields in Aboriginal culture and history. Shields are not only objects designed to absorb the shock of conflict, they are also, through an extraordinary range of symbolism, designed to project personal and group identity and affirm ancestral links.
The exhibition opens on March 24 and continues until 22 May 2016.
