Something on Saturday 2015 – Program Guide
Something on Saturday delights and entertains thousands of children in Adelaide every Saturday throughout winter each year. Many South Australian children aged 2 to 10 years enjoy their first theatrical experience through this program.
The 2015 program covers a wide range of entertainment, suitable for both boys and girls, including circus, puppetry, live music, percussion, ballet, magic, comedy, a family opera, a toddler disco party and even a ventriloquist.
Highlights
That Science Gang kick start this yearβs Something on Saturday season with Just add Water, so join hosts Rip Tide and Sue Nami as they mix fascinating facts with spectacular science.
Further highlights from this yearβs program include:
1.Β Β Β Powerful performances during Adelaide Festival Centreβs Come Out Childrenβs Festival; Argus by Dead Puppet Society is a whimsical wonderland making use of nothing but household objects and four pairs of hands. Look, an Imaginary Theatre production, takes kids on a journey of joy, transformation and imagination and The Circa Carnival comes to town with Carnival of the Animals.
2. Β Β Nay Nayβs Tinkertime is sure to be a hit. Nay Nay is a Tinkerer: she experiments, plays with ideas, tells stories and loves a challenge, full of snazzy tunes that will have the kids up and dancing. Kids already know her as the voice of βHootabelleβ on Giggle and Hoot.
3.Β Β Β One of Australiaβs most accomplished classical pianists as youβve never seen him before Simon Tedeschiβs show Pianist and Prankster will lead you on a comical journey through a day in his life.
4.Β Β Β If you need a laugh Matty Greyβs Grossed Out Game Show is the remedy, smoking hot from his 5 Star performances at the Adelaide Fringe quote: βAn hour of magical chaos β this is how you do a freaking childrenβs Fringe show!β.
5.Β Β Β If you missed out last time donβt make the same mistake: award winning musician and author Craig Smith is back. Donβt miss his rollicking tale of The Wonky Donkey.
6.Β Β Β The season will finish on 5 September with spectacular shadow, hand puppetry and physical comedy by Little Wing Puppets The Owlβs Apprentice.
The Foundation Kids Corner
While youβre there take advantage of the FREE Foundation Kids Corner Workshops, each week an art and craft activity complements and is themed to each weekβs paid performance on offer. The workshops are committed to inspiring and stimulating young people and are funded by the Adelaide Festival Centre Foundation. The Foundation raises funds for projects that nuture young people at Adelaide Festival Centre, thereby inspiring young people through the arts, and it is for this reason the workshops are free.
