Jalsa Indian Bar and Restaurant | North Adelaide | Review

Jalsa Indian Bar and Restaurant in North Adelaide has a variety of options for breakfast, lunch or an authentic Indian dinner and even has an indoor playground for little diners.

We recently visited Jalsa Indian Bar and Restaurant with our little ones and had an amazing dining experience. Located on Melbourne Street in North Adelaide, it is a bright open dining space with lots of room between tables. There is also an indoor playground made of soft equipment located within easy view. This kept the kids entertained while we ordered and waited for our food and drinks. 

There are two separate menus depending if you are visiting for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We went earlier in the day so ordered off the Breakfast & Lunch Menu which includes a mix of classic options like pancakes, waffles and burgers as well as light Indian meals like Thali or a curry or salad bowl. If you are after an authentic full Indian style meal, this is available on their dinner menu after 5pm. 

The kids dug into an epic pancake stack complete with chocolate sauce, fruit and ice cream and then split a chicken wrap. The grown ups enjoyed a butter chicken bowl, a mixed Thali platter and delicious coffee. 

The food was well presented and a good size for lunch serves. The curry was fragrant and succulent and the amount of spice can be ordered to taste. We also enjoyed some Galub Jamun, a classic Indian dessert, which was delicious served warm. 

The food was served very quickly, but we had the advantage of being some of the only diners at the time. The service staff were extremely friendly and it made for a really enjoyable dining experience. The kids were able to play and run back and forth between the play area and the table without troubling anyone. 

Jalsa makes for a great option to eat out with younger kids in tow with a variety of options, especially for breakfast and lunch. It would even make for a nice spot to have a coffee and a play date with younger kids. The restrooms also include changing facilities and there are ramps for prams and accessibility needs.
