Karoonda Playground
Karoonda Playground, located in the Murray Mallee, is a space-themed playground with an impressive 10 metre, three-level rocket-themed summit tower. The tower is the first of its kind in South Australia and one of only three in Australia.
It also features two tunnel slides ‘blackholes’, a lunar rover buggy, ‘space tether’ flying fox, orbiting carousel, a stargazing hammock and a water play area just to name a few.
The 1930 Karoonda Meteorite is the inspiration for the space-themed playground and it is hoped that the new playground will entice visitors to the town.
Wanbi and Wynarka playgrounds are in their final stages with a grand opening for the Mallee Playground Trail to be announced in the new year.
This will be a great place to stop for a play whenever you head to the Riverland, or on a day trip. Karoonda is 145km from Adelaide [1 hr 40 min drive], and about 67km from Murray Bridge.
Karoonda also has a fantastic silo artwork to check out too.
