KAYA Desserts | Adelaide | Review

KAYA Desserts, Hutt Street – a must-visit dessert destination in Adelaide.

If you love discovering unique, beautifully crafted sweets, KAYA Desserts on Hutt Street should be at the top of your list. They opened in June 2024 and have quickly become one of Adelaide’s most popular dessert spots – and for good reason. Their creations don’t just look incredible; they taste every bit as amazing.

From innovative Asian-inspired treats to indulgent share-style desserts, there’s something here for all ages… and yes, everything is very Instagram-worthy.

KAYA specialises in reimagined Asian desserts, with a menu that’s both playful and seriously impressive. Even if you’re not familiar with Korean or Malaysian-inspired sweets, you’re in for a delicious surprise.

One of their most popular offerings is Bingsu – a Korean shaved-ice dessert made from ultra-fine, fluffy ice piled high with toppings like condensed milk, coconut, Bandung, popping pearls, gelato, pandan snowflakes and crumble. Flavours like mango and matcha are refreshing, light and perfect for sharing. They also serve adorable “wobbly puddings” that look even cuter when they jiggle!

We tried the incredible Matcha Snowy Soufflé, Mango Candy Crush Soufflé Pancakes, and the stunning Pink Strawberry Bingsu. The flavours and textures were amazing, and each dish came with its own side bowl of extra gelato and sauce for an added hit of sweetness.

Inside, KAYA is modern, bright and comfortable, with generously cushioned seats (big win!) and fun touches that make the visit memorable – including their LEGO tissue boxes.

KAYA is very popular. There are no bookings – it’s walk-ins only, so you’ll need to pop your name on the board outside and wait to be called in. Just remember to be patient and polite to staff and everyone around you, and you’ll have a fantastic experience.
