Lunch on the Lawns at Government House | Adelaide

Her Excellency the Governor is opening the family-friendly grounds of Government House for the public to enjoy their lunch picnic-style on the lawns.
Her Excellency and Mr Bunten invite the public to go along to the Government House gardens, take a picnic lunch, spread out a rug or unfold a camping chair and enjoy the surroundings, while listening to a community band or orchestra.
Lunch on the Lawns also marks and celebrates key occasions and international days. For International Day of People with Disability, the event has featured Novita’s DJ Georgia, along with refreshments provided by Shine Like Gold Mobile Café, supporting young Autistic people to gain real-life work experience.
On the same day, visitors can also enjoy complimentary guided tours of the Government House gardens, led by volunteer guides from the Friends of the Botanic Gardens, of which the Governor and Mr Bunten are Joint Patrons. The tours run from 10.45am to 11.45am and offer an opportunity to explore the history, design and plantings of the gardens.

Bookings are not required – just go through the main gates on North Terrace and choose your picnic spot. Children can enjoy the music while running around the extensive lawns, and exploring the gardens.
