Momoto | Burnside | Review
Momoto Burnside offers great Japanese food, conveyor-belt sushi and delicious soft serve!
Review by Angelica-Hazel Toutounji
This week we found ourselves exploring Burnside Village Shopping Centre. With hungry kids in tow and a couple of hours to kill we stumbled upon what might just be our new favourite Japanese restaurant, Momoto!

We were instantly attracted to Momoto due to its striking orange interiors, bright red branding and visible sushi train running throughout the space. As soon as we entered we were greeted by friendly staff members who directed us towards a booth. The booths are a great option for families to enjoy a shared meal but we also saw bench seating for solo and couple diners too.
To order your food you can either grab it whilst it comes past on the train or every table is equipped with a digital menu where you can input dietary requirements, see the menu items and easily order what you are after. The kids loved the electronic element of this and our food was delivered in record time.

We ordered a combination of items such as edamame beans, dragon rolls, nigiri and baby maki rolls. What we found to be great for dining with kids were the maki rolls which are smaller tube-shaped sushi rice rolls with a filing of choice. We were able to order a bunch of different varieties and being small and on the lower cost side of things meant the kids could sample different flavours without having to buy bigger ones that they might not like. At the time of our visit (July 2026) most of the flavours were $3.60 for a small set of 6. Our kids loved the tuna salad, avocado, cucumber, omelette and of course the teriyaki chicken.

Some of the other tempting menu items included takosu (soft taco sushi), hana (flower) sushi, gunkan, donburi, tempura, naked sushi, udon noodles, sashimi and almost naked sushi. Whilst we kept our item choices pretty simple we loved the variety on the menu. We also liked that they offer complimentary still or sparkling water, we loved that it was easy to avoid gluten (for myself at least) and we loved how tasty and delicious all of the food was.

Last most not least we ended our meal with soft serve, which at the time of our visit was only $1 each. This totally won us over. It’s so nice finding places that offer low cost sweet treats for kids. The servings weren’t huge but enough for kids to feel like it’s a dessert whilst also avoiding a crazy sugar high. Momoto Burnside also offer warabi mochi which is the colourful balls on a stick. We had to try them and found them to be light, sweet and delicious.

We really enjoyed our experience dining at Momoto, the service was great, the food was tasty for kids (and adults) and the vibe was casual and fun. So if you are looking for a place for your next family meal, definitely give Momoto a try!

What we like about it
- The delicious food, the baby maki sushi and the $1 soft serve
Things to Consider:
- Momoto is on the small size, we found it to be quite tight with a pram and it’s not really set up for big groups.
Location:
Burnside Village Shopping Centre, Shop L1013/447 Portrush Rd, Glenside
